By​ ​registering​ ​as​ ​a​ ​tutor​ ​with​ ​Viera​ ​Academy​ ​("the​ ​website,"​ ​"website," "viera.academy"),​ ​you​ ​(“tutor”)​ ​agree​ ​that​ ​the​ ​following​ ​terms​ ​and​ ​conditions​ ​will govern​ ​all​ ​payments​ ​made​ ​to​ ​you​ ​by​ ​students​ ​through​ ​the​ ​Viera​ ​Academy​ ​system.

Conditions​ ​for​ ​guaranteeing the ability to provide services to students.

Viera​ ​Academy​ ​is​ ​a​ ​marketplace​ ​for​ ​those​ ​seeking​ ​tutoring​ ​services​ ​to​ ​connect​ ​with those​ ​seeking​ ​to​ ​provide​ ​tutoring​ ​services.​ ​Tutors will receive tutoring opportunities as they are matched with students in the system. Tutoring requests contain all the information needed for the tutor to be able to judge whether or not it is the desired tutoring opportunity. All details of the request are revealed once the tutor connects with the student. The ability to connect with students is conditioned as follows:

(a) In order for a tutor to be able to accept a tutoring request, he or she needs to have enough credits in his or her account - in the form of Prep Coins - equivalent to one tutoring session - either online or in-person - of 1 hour long. See Prep Coins section for more details on how to obtain them in the system.

(b) The corresponding credit mentioned in (a) will be withdrawn from the tutor’s account prior to disclosing the personal information on the parent or student contained as part of the tutoring request.

(c) ​​In the case that the tutoring opportunity may not be concreted within the next 48 business hours, the tutor may contact Viera Academy’s team and they will refund the credit withdrawn associated with the specific tutoring request. It may take up to 24 business hours for this credit to appear in the tutor’s account - in the form of Prep Coins.

(d) ​Starting from the first lesson, the tutor will collect directly from the student or parent the full compensation of the tutoring services.

(e) The​ ​tutor's​ ​services​ ​are​ ​instructive​ ​and​ ​constitute​ ​learning,​ ​not​ ​cheating. ​More specifically,​ ​the​ ​tutor​ ​is​ ​not​ ​to​ ​complete​ ​assignments,​ ​write​ ​papers,​ ​take​ ​quizzes​ ​or otherwise​ ​do​ ​work​ ​on​ ​the​ ​student's​ ​behalf.​ ​Further,​ ​the​ ​services​ ​that​ ​the​ ​tutor​ ​offers must​ ​not​ ​violate​ ​the​ ​academic​ ​honesty​ ​policy​ ​or​ ​other​ ​conduct​ ​policies​ ​of​ ​the​ ​student's school,​ ​university,​ ​academic​ ​institution​ ​or​ ​workplace.

(f) ​​Prior​ ​to​ ​a​ ​lesson​ ​being​ ​given,​ ​the​ ​tutor​ ​has​ ​received​ ​a​ ​​Viera​ ​Academy​ ​​subject approval​ ​for​ ​the​ ​specific​ ​subject​ ​area​ ​of​ ​the​ ​lesson​.

(g) The​ ​tutor​ ​does​ ​not​ ​collect​ ​or​ ​request​ ​payment​ ​directly​ ​from​ ​the​ ​student​ ​by​ ​cash, check​ ​or​ ​otherwise,​ ​for​ ​the​ ​lesson.

(h) The​ ​tutor​ ​is​ ​over​ ​18​ ​years​ ​old​ ​and​ ​is​ ​eligible​ ​to​ ​work​ ​in​ ​the​ ​United​ ​States.​

Tutor Credits - Prep Coins

(a) ​Prep​ ​Coins​ ​are​ ​Viera​ ​Academy’s​ ​electronic​ ​currency.​ ​A​ ​fixed​ ​conversion​ ​is​ ​defined​ ​and used​ ​in​ ​the​ ​system:​ ​1,000​ ​Prep​ ​Coins​ ​=​ ​1.00​ ​US​ ​dollars.

(b) ​Tutors may obtain Prep Coins in Viera Academy’s store at any time.

(c) ​Prep Coins do not expire or change its conversion to US dollars.

Social Security number requirement

(a) ​To​ ​complete​ ​a personal background check,​ ​Viera​ ​Academy​ ​needs​ ​to​ ​have​ ​a valid​ ​SSN.

Calculation of tutor payment amounts

(a) Tutors set their own hourly rate and may change it at any time

(b) Non-tutoring charges should be incorporated into the hourly rate. Travel,​ ​prep​ ​time or​ ​other​ ​expenses​ ​that​ ​you​ ​wish​ ​to​ ​defray​ ​to​ ​the​ ​customer​ ​must​ ​first​ ​be​ ​agreed​ ​to​ ​by the​ ​student.​ ​The​ ​mechanism​ ​to​ ​assess​ ​these​ ​charges​ ​is​ ​to​ ​adjust​ ​your​ ​hourly​ ​rate.​
